With over a decade of dedicated experience in the classroom and more than eight years specializing in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, I have committed my career to helping students navigate the complexities of history and the social sciences. I hold two degrees, one in History and another in Political Science, and my passion lies in making the humanities accessible, engaging, and deeply relevant to our modern world.
I believe that studying history is about much more than memorizing dates and facts—it is an essential tool for helping young people understand their place in society, develop sharp critical thinking skills, and become analytical writers. I am a dedicated Christian in a position of authority in my church, so that is central to all my beliefs and pedagogy.
Advanced Placement courses are notoriously rigorous, requiring students to master complex writing formats like DBQs (Document-Based Questions) and LEQs (Long Essay Questions), requiring the students to create a historically defensible thesis. Having taught these courses for years, I understand exactly what College Board readers are looking for. My tutoring goes beyond basic homework help; I provide students with a targeted strategy to demystify exam rubrics, structure high-scoring essays, and build the confidence they need to maximize their college credit potential.
Whether your student needs to boost their classroom grades, conquer AP U.S. History, European History, or World History, or master the art of analytical writing, my goal is to provide the expert, structured mentorship they need to succeed.

"Hey Sammons, I just wanted to let you know how much of an impact you make on my high school year. You taught me how to love history, how to take an ungodly amount of notes, and how to have confidence in myself. You always had faith in me even when I didn't have faith in myself. You have been my favorite teacher, but more of a friend, someone I can count on and trust. You've taught me so much not only about history but about myself. The impact you've had on me, I can't even explain. - Alana Wallace
"Mr. Sammons, thank you for two years of KNOWLEDGE! I will admit that you were one of the best teachers I've had. You've made me a better student." - Giselle Chavarria
hey Sammons! Thank you so much for everything you've done for me as a student and everything you've done for Rim High as a school. You will continue to be my favorite teacher. Thanks for everything!" - Evelyn Griggs
"Mr. Sammons, thank you for believing in me this year. Last year was rough for me and I did not deserve to be in AP World. This year I really did try despite everything going on in my life and you supported me and encouraged me the whole year. You have made me motivated to work harder in school and in life. The 2nd Semester I did fall behind and I wish I hadn't , but I still believe I have come a long way since last year. I looked forward to 5th period everyday because your class made me feel comfortable and was the best part of my school day. I have learned so much this year because of you. You have impacted my life 4 ever!" Shelbee Gutierrez
