BIOGRAPHY
Sammi Tang is an Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the University of Miami Herbert Business School. Her research addresses issues related to supply chain risk management, outsourcing and procurement strategies, sustainable supply chains, and topics in the interface of operations management and marketing, and healthcare operations. Her research has appeared in top journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Marketing Research, and other high-quality journals such as Decision Sciences and OMEGA. Her research has won the Best Paper Award at international conferences and has been supported by the Boeing Center for Supply Chain Innovation at Washington University, the James W. McLamore Research Award, and the Provost Research Award at the University of Miami. Sammi serves as a Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management and an Associate Editor for Decision Sciences. She is the recipient of the M&SOM Meritorious Service Award and the POM Outstanding Reviewer Award. She is a member of INFORMS, Production and Operations Management Society, and the Manufacturing & Service Operations Management Society.
At the University of Miami, Sammi has developed and taught various courses in supply chain management, supply chain strategy, sustainable supply chains, operations management, global supply chain management, and supply chain resilience. She has taught for executive MBA, customized executive education programs, MBA, specialized masters, undergraduate, and doctoral programs. She received the 2025 Teaching Award for Tenure/Tenure-Emerging Track Faculty at Miami Herbert Business School, Poets & Quants’ Top 50 Undergraduate Professors of 2021 recognition and the Excellence in Teaching Award selected by Global Executive MBA Class of 2020 at the University of Miami.
Sammi received her B.S. from Peking University, China, and MSBA and Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
