explores the growing challenge of providing affordable, flexible, and supportive housing for young adults entering the urban workforce. As rapid urbanization, rising housing prices, and increasing rental costs make home ownership unattainable for many young professionals, the study proposes a modular co-living development that offers adaptable and cost-effective temporary accommodation while fostering a strong sense of community.

The research focuses on young working adults aged 20–35, particularly those seeking affordable housing close to employment opportunities in Kuala Lumpur. Beyond providing a place to live, the project addresses issues of social isolation, work-life balance, and mental well-being by integrating communal facilities, collaborative spaces, and recreational amenities into the residential environment. Modular design principles enable flexible unit configurations that can adapt to different lifestyles, occupancy needs, and future changes while optimizing construction efficiency and affordability.

Through literature review, surveys, observations, and precedent studies of successful co-living developments, the thesis establishes design strategies that balance private living spaces with vibrant communal environments. The proposed development demonstrates how modular co-living can create an inclusive, sustainable, and socially connected residential model that enhances the quality of life for young urban workers while responding to the evolving housing demands of Malaysia's rapidly urbanizing cities.
