Welcome!

I'm Samir, and I am lecturer in the Anthropology Department at CSULA. I'm was an intern for Summer at Fall at the Endangered Languages Project. My recent work in theoretical linguistics focuses on (i) case and agreement (ii) semantics of intonation and particles in speech acts.  So far, I have been working with Eastern Indo-Aryan languages (Bengali, Maithili, Sylheti) and Highland and Lowland Oaxaca Chontal (isolate). In addition to theoretical projects, I am also involved language documentation and revitalization. As a member of the Language Documentation and Revitalization Space (LADORES) at CSULA, I have contributed to a Popular Grammar of Oaxaca Chontal, as well as helping plan and facilitate community language classes.
