Short Bio
Omar Sami Oubbati is an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences, HDR) at University Gustave Eiffel, France, and a member of the Gaspard Monge Computer Science Laboratory (LIGM, CNRS UMR 8049), in the LRT team (Software, Networks, Real-Time). He received his Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) from University Gustave Eiffel in June 2025, with a thesis entitled "Contributions to UAV-Assisted Vehicular and Terrestrial Networks".
His research focuses on next-generation mobile networks (5G/6G, IoT) assisted by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs): coverage extension, wireless energy transfer, energy efficiency, and reinforcement learning for autonomous networks. He currently co-supervises four PhD students and leads the MOSAÏC project on resilient multi-radio mesh communication for smart cities and critical environments.
He teaches networks, cybersecurity and programming from the first year of the BUT to the Master level, and has been Director of Studies of the 3rd year of the BUT Computer Science at the IUT de Champs-sur-Marne since 2023.
He holds an Engineer degree (2010), two Master degrees (2011, 2014) and a PhD in Computer Science (2018), all from the University of Laghouat, Algeria, and was a visiting PhD student at the University of Avignon (2016-2017). He joined University Gustave Eiffel in September 2021 after teaching at the University of Laghouat.
Awards: Best Survey Paper Award, Vehicular Communications (2019) · Top Reviewer Award, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2021).
