I am Samik Dutta (শমীক দত্ত), currently a doctoral student in high-energy astrophysics at the PPGCosmo International PhD Program in Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitation based out of Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Vitória, ES - Brazil. My doctoral studies are funded by Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), Brazil. Previously, I obtained my Master of Science in Physics from the University College of Science, Technology and Agriculture (erstwhile, Rajabazar Science College) campus of the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India.
I currently reside in Vitória, the beautiful capital of the state of Espírito Santo on the shores of the South Atlantic Ocean.

Hailing from the City of Joy, Kolkata (কলকাতা) - the land of Rabindranath Thakur & Satyajit Ray, my upbringing has been rooted in the love for literature, poetry, music and cinema. Being an avid reader is one of my 'Islands of Personality', with my favourite genres being fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction and thrillers. The surest way to win my heart is through the gift of a thoughtfully chosen book.
On occasions when my nose isn't buried in a book, you'll probably find me scratching my head over a game of chess. While I'm not a pro-player by any means, I often find myself lost and fascinated by the wonders of the 64 squares. If you come across an interesting chess position or a clever game, feel free to share it with me. We can rack our brains together!
My primary interests lie in the study of the high energy phenomena in the Universe, particularly in the gamma-ray bands. Presently, I am working on understanding potential sources of galactic cosmic rays like supernovae remnants (SNR) and pulsar wind nebulae (PWN) through multi-wavelength observations. I am also particularly interested in exploring the spectrum, composition, propagation and anisotropy of the Ultra High Energy Cosmic Ray (UHECR) spectrum.
Previously, I studied a class of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) known as low-luminosity AGNs and contributed to a project to probe the gravitational-wave (GW) memory signal in the parabolic limit of a black-hole binary system.
