SAME DAY SERVICE

Same Day Service is an American rock band formed in Norman, OK in the fall of 1998 by twin sisters Sarah Rimassa (lead vocals, guitar) and Maggie Rimassa (vocals, drums). The final line-up included Christina Ownby(vocals, bass) who joined in 2003. Categorizing themselves as “bubblegum punk”, they drew inspiration from Blink-182, MXPX, The Bangles and Bad Religion. The band performed internationally, and released 4 albums.

History

Origins and early years: 1998 – 1999

Formed in Oct 1998 in Norman, OK, Maggie (drums, vocals) and Sarah (guitar, vocals) Rimassa started the band with bassist Andrea. After playing their 1st show at Outer Cafe in OKC, OK, Andrea was replaced by Vanessa Williams, and Kristen Reed joined on lead guitar. In 1999, after they self-released their first full-length, If You’re Lucky, Lisa Higgins formerly of Pink Collar Job, took over from Williams. Shortly after, Reed left SDS, leaving the band as the 3-piece they would become known for.

In 2000, Same Day Service joined Portland based punk band 800 Octane touring the American Southwest on the Marked for Misfortune tour, got their first taste of touring, and never looked back.

In 2001, SDS released their 2nd album, Endless Adolescence, and relocated to Austin, TX for both it's music and BMX scenes. The quickly became pop-punk darlings regularly playing at famed venues such as Emo's and The Backroom. They also began touring extensively around the US.
