If a DPF has become too clogged for a forced regeneration or the Mass Ash Volume has been exceeded, then a physical cleaning of the DPF will be required.
What happens?
The mechanic will go through the DPF history diagnostic and check that the filter has failed to complete a regeneration.
Specially designed chemicals are added to the system, through a port on the DPF and allowed to soak in before running a forced regeneration through the diagnostics.
The mechanic will check performance of the DPF and advise further if there is still an issue with regeneration due to failure of the unit core.
What are the symptoms?
The DPF warning light on the dashboard will come on
Car goes into ‘safe’ or ‘limp’ mode
Loss of power
High fuel consumption
Starting issues
A DPF regeneration has not
sufficiently cleared the DPF of soot build up.
Service Charge Policy.
Please be aware that the DPF cleaning and regeneration services charges will apply regardless of the outcome. This policy is necessary due to the complexity and labour involved in performing these services. Here are the key points to note:
Service Fees: The cost covers the labour, equipment usage, and time required to perform the cleaning and regeneration procedures.
Unsuccessful Outcomes: In some cases, despite the mechanic's best efforts, the DPF may not be fully restored due to factors such as severe clogging, damage to the filter, or underlying issues with the vehicle's engine or exhaust system. Why there is a Charge for Unsuccessful Attempts
Expertise and Labour: Skilled technicians dedicate significant time and expertise to perform these intricate procedures.
Equipment and Materials: Specialised equipment and materials are used in the cleaning and regeneration, incurring costs regardless of the outcome.
