If a DPF has become too clogged for a forced regeneration or the Mass Ash Volume has been exceeded, then a physical cleaning of the DPF will be required.

What happens?

• The mechanic will go through the DPF history diagnostic and check that the filter has failed to complete a regeneration.

• Specially designed chemicals are added to the system, through a port on the DPF and allowed to soak in before running a forced regeneration through the diagnostics.

• The mechanic will check performance of the DPF and advise further if there is still an issue with regeneration due to failure of the unit core.

• What are the symptoms?

  • The DPF warning light on the dashboard will come on

  • Car goes into ‘safe’ or ‘limp’ mode

  • Loss of power

  • High fuel consumption

  • Starting issues

  • A DPF regeneration has not

  • sufficiently cleared the DPF of soot build up.
