This was my first time fishing! A lovely couple I met in Montana was kind enough to show me the ropes! I caught a ~20 cm walleye and released it!

(Nickname: Sam, Sammy)
I am a stratigrapher, sedimentologist, and paleontologist.
From a young age, I knew that I wanted to study Earth Science. I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, spending many hours sifting through agates and minerals in a store called the 'Enchanted Rock Garden.' After deciding to pursue geology as a major, I attended Winona State University and majored in Geoscience. As an undergrad, I developed a passion for sedimentology, stratigraphy, and paleontology, and I also discovered my love for teaching after being hired as a teaching assistant. Currently, I am a PhD student at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, where I study the Eocene–Oligocene Transition through the lens of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and geochemistry.
