My name is Samaneh (Samy) Movassaghi.

I am currently a Tech Lead in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning and Data Science at Vanguard Inc. I lead a team of Senior Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to work on a suite of Supervised, Unsupervised, Semi-supervised and Reinforcement Learning models to make optimised recommendations to Vanguard Investors and Clients.

I received a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from The Australian National University (ANU), Sydney. My focus has been in Advanced Machine learning models for Recommender systems, Deep learning, Sensor Fusion and IoT. My work has been recognised by several organisations and featured in over 20 newspapers, magazines, and Radio for research Excellence and Technical Business innovation.

At Google, I was in the Nest Perception Intelligence team which I collaborated with the Google Brain, Google Cloud and Google Analytics. I looked into a large image dataset constructed from videos collected from the Nest Cameras placed in people's homes. The aim was to design an end to end image classification pipeline on the images at a beyond human level precision without having any background context from the images. This was to be run on the battery enabled edge cameras which required the model to be light weight as well as maintaining acceptable performance to ensure its inhabitants safety by providing accurate notifications in real-time.

In my Research Fellowship at Google I worked on my proposal around the design of autonomous algorithms for multiple moving objects with over a 100 joints which have sensors placed on each of the joints and allocating dynamic resources to them without an external entity being involved. The challenges were the stringent battery and memory space on the edge devices.
