Dr. Sam Anderson | Scientist, writer, thinker

I am curious about the relationships between ice, water, and people.  Trained as a geophysicist, data scientist, and engineer, I use data analysis, machine learning, and numerical modelling to ask:

Who is impacted by the loss of glacier ice?

What role to heat waves play in determining freshwater availability?

How will river flows change under climate change in Western Canada?

I am keen to think deeply and creatively about water in the era of the climate crisis.  My writing and research has been featured in Nature Climate Change, Nature Communications, Water Resources Research, Hydrology and Earth System Science, The Globe and Mail, CBC News: The National, and elsewhere.  If you would like to work together, collaborate, or discuss any of these topics, please send an email to anderson.sam.lucas@gmail.com.
