The Samajwadi Party (SP) announced that it will file a defamation suit against the BJP for a campaign song that is not only a "targeted attack on the SP chief, but an attempt to vitiate peace and tranquillity, and trigger unrest in the state". On April 24, the verified Twitter handle of the Uttar Pradesh BJP uploaded a 4.27-minute video, which was a spin on the SP's election anthem titled 'Janta pukarti hai Akhilesh aaiye' (People are ready to welcome Akhilesh), released ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls.

Besides pointing fingers at the SP chief, the video includes a grab of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, holding the then Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav responsible for it. In an apparent response to the BJP's song, the SP has also released a 3-minute long song on Twitter -- 'Jo janata ko sataye hain, hum unko hatayenge', to highlight the BJP's failures. While the BJP maintained a studied silence on the issue after releasing the video, the SP announced that it would file a defamation case against the Twitter handle that first uploaded the video.

AFTER INDICATING that it was digging its heels in on the Ramcharitmanas row, with its appointment of Swami Prasad Maurya to a senior party post, the Samajwadi Party (SP) may end up fanning a fresh one.

Speaking to India Today, she said, "I am a folk singer, I talk about the common people. The BJP is ruling the government in Uttar Pradesh, so it's not like I can ask questions to the Samajwadi Party." She added that she has fulfilled her responsibility as a folk singer and this is not the first time she has posed questions against the government in a song.

Lambasting the oppositionSoon after the launch of the song Thursday at the BJP office in Lucknow, Adityanath presented a report card of his five-year rule of the state, which has never given a second consecutive term to a chief minister.

A small section from the video of a pro-Hindutva song on the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections which targetted the Samajwadi Party (SP) and stoked communal fears is being shared falsely claiming that it was composed by Muslims. The lyrics of the song in the video state that if the SP form the government then the Muslim community would take over the state and the construction of the Ram Temple would halt.

The 29 second viral clip has disturbing lyrics and is filled with communally charged dog whistles and claims that if the Samajwadi Party form the government in the state then the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya would be stopped. The song has a lone that say green flags will be raised and saffron flags put down if SP wins.

The video is being shared with a false caption claiming it was created by Muslims. The caption when translated reads, "This song composed by the Muslim community is enough to open the eyes of Hindus. From this we can see what is the thinking of Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh. Still some fools are dreaming of forming a SP government in UP in the name of Hindu caste."

"I have composed the song, it has not been sung by any Samajwadi party supporter. Can an SP supporter even sing such a song? It is a 4 - 5 minutes song, and a section of it has been chopped and made viral by anti-social elements, which is why people are not understanding the context of the song."

Achraya futher added, "..I am from Hindutvadi ideology and the song is based on it and I believe the party (SP) shot Ram bhakts during the Ram mandir agitation in the 90s and if they come to power today they can obstruct the construction of the Ram mandir. No Muslim person has created it (song) and I am a BJP supporter."

On viewing Acharya's Facebook account, one can find several pro-BJP and pro-Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posts and songs and even a post on Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi.

Uttar Pradesh is going to witness the assembly elections next year. Political parties have started campaigning, and a lot of disinformation is being circulated to target the voters. Bharatiya Janata Party has been accusing the Samajwadi party of appeasing 'the Muslim vote bank'.

In the same backdrop, a 29 seconds long music video is going viral on social media. The lyrics of the viral songs read, "the Muslim community will capture Uttar Pradesh if the Samajwadi Party government will be formed in the UP after 2022 elections". While sharing this video, people on social media claimed that the Muslim community has made this song.

[English Translation: This song made by the Muslim community is enough to open the eyes of Hindus. From this, we can see what the thinking of the SP party is. Still, some fools are dreaming of forming the government of SP in the name of the Hindu caste.]

Our investigation shows that the viral song is composed by a Hindu singer named Sandeep Acharya in favour of the Bharatiya Janta Party, not the Samajwadi Party. There is no involvement of Muslims in it. Hence, the viral claim is false.
