I am new to ROS, and I just learned some ROS tutorials. I found that in some tutorials, they refer to a node as the "publisher", such as the "image publisher" in _transport/T.... However, in other tutorials, they refer to a node as the "broadcaster", such as the "tf broadcaster" in Furthermore, the recipients of them, subscribers and listeners, are not the same either.

TF is a specific library within ROS that is used to perform transformation operations in a helpful manner. With TF you can create a frame tree, add children to an existing parent frame, add a new branch, get the relationship between frames, etc. TF has implemented it's own classes called listener and broadcaster so as not to confuse between subscriber and publisher. Under the hood, listener and broadcaster utilize the ROS subscriber and publisher model, but do not expose them to the user, instead giving other tools to be able to do what the user wants, but specifically is working within the transformation tree, which is usually exposed on the /tf and /tf_static topics.

Allan Wylie, a rising senior at Cleveland-area Westlake High School, has been blind since birth. He's also a sports broadcaster, currently in the midst of a seven-game stint doing color commentary for Cleveland's High-A affiliate, the Lake County Captains. To those who may feel Wylie's pursuit is counterintuitive, he says he's out to prove those with disabilities can find success in the field of their choosing.

He came to the attention of the Captains, located in Eastlake, Ohio, after an employee of the Cleveland Sight Center reached out to the team. The Captains arranged to have him work in the Class Park broadcast booth with play-by-play broadcaster Logan Potosky for seven games in August. Start the broadcaster with any of the below options. All of them have been pre-configuredwith default values, except the cfg option which points to the file containing the nodesto broadcast against.

The broadcasters user interface (UI) can be reached on :. The UI will by default issue requests towards the broadcasterslistening port (-port), e.g. :8088. In order to change the URL that the UI will perform requests towards, the configuration options -request-proxy-host, -proxy-port and proxy-proto should be used.

By default, the broadcaster starts listening on the port, however - if both crt and key options are set, it will automatically switch onto https and listen to the https-port (default: 8443).

From release 1.2.4 all requests towards backends will include the header X-Broadcaster-Ua which includes the version of the broadcaster itself. The value for this header is in the form X-Broadcaster-Ua: Broadcaster/ (eg. X-Broadcaster-Ua: Broadcaster/1.2.4).

The broadcaster converts all request headers to canonical format. The canonicalization converts the firstletter and any letter following a hyphen to upper case, the rest are converted to lowercase. The HTTP standard requiresall servers to treat the header names in a case insensitive fashion, so the normalizationis only problematic if your server does not respect the standard. This means that the headeraccept-encoding: text will be converted to Accept-Encoding: text.

If the broadcaster receives a SIGHUP notification, it will trigger a configuration reload from disk. The broadcaster can be started with -confwatch flag to specify how often the Broadcaster should look forconfiguration file changes. When configured and a change has occurred, it will be reloaded automatically. confwatch is off (0s) by default.
