Highlights of the February 2024

From the Editor’s Desk

"Live in harmony with the whispering winds, the dancing leaves, and the gentle stream of 'Jeevant Dhara'—for therein lies the true essence of life."

‘Jeevant- Dhara’ is a Hindi phrase that translates to ‘living stream’ or ‘life flow’ in English. It often symbolizes a way of life closely connected to nature, embracing its rhythms and elements. Living close to nature implies harmonizing with the environment, respecting its cycles, and finding sustenance and inspiration from its beauty and abundance. It can encompass practices like sustainable living, conservation efforts, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Living close to nature, epitomized by the concept of "Jeevant- Dhara," encompasses a profound ethos that intertwines human existence with the rhythms and wonders of the natural world.

At its core, it embodies a holistic approach to life, emphasizing the interconnectedness between individuals, communities, and the environment. At the heart of  living close to nature, lies a deep respect for the Earth and all its inhabitants. It involves recognizing the intrinsic value of every living being and the delicate balance that sustains life on our planet. Living close to nature involves forging a symbiotic relationship with the Earth, where humans strive to be caretakers rather than conquerors. It entails mindful consumption patterns, minimizing waste, and embracing practices that reduce our ecological footprint.

Whether through sustainable agriculture, renewable energy adoption or conservation efforts, individuals committed to living close to nature seek to tread lightly on the planet, leaving behind a legacy of stewardship and responsibility for future generations. Furthermore, living close to nature fosters a profound sense of connection and belonging. It invites individuals to immerse themselves in the beauty of natural landscapes, to marvel at the intricacies of ecosystems, and to find solace in the tranquility of wilderness. This connection with nature nourishes the soul, offering moments of clarity, inspiration, and renewal in a world often characterized by haste and noise.

Practising "Jeevant-Dhara" involves embracing simplicity and mindfulness in daily life. It encourages slowing down, tuning into the rhythms of nature and appreciating the small wonders that abound in the world around us. From the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind to the vibrant hues of a sunset, living close to nature invites us to savour life's simple pleasures and to cultivate a deeper awareness of our place in the universe. Ultimately, living close to nature is not just a lifestyle choice; it is a philosophy that recognizes our interconnectedness with the Earth and all its inhabitants. It is a call to action, urging individuals and communities to work together in harmony with the natural world, to protect its fragile ecosystems and to nurture a future where humanity and nature thrive in balance and mutual respect.

Accolades and Achievements

Best Unique Idea Award

It was a moment of great pride, as our students Ridhi Singal, Saksham Saini and Yojit Sharma from class XI were honoured with the ‘Best Unique Idea Award’ for their project ‘Zero Hunger, Zero Waste’ at the Sustainable Innovators Exhibition, organized by Jagran and Amrita University on 2nd February 2024. The inspiration behind the ‘Zero Hunger Zero Waste’ initiative stems from a deep-seated concern for the dual crisis of food waste and global hunger. Witnessing the staggering amount of perfectly edible food discarded daily by food retailers, coupled with the sobering reality of widespread hunger, ignited a spark for change. The idea is not just a response to a problem; it is a manifestation of the belief that innovation should be harnessed for societal benefit. The desire to bridge the gap between surplus food and those in need, while simultaneously aiding businesses in becoming more sustainable, has fueled the development of this groundbreaking app. It is a testament to the power of human creativity, compassion  and responsibility – a small but impactful step towards a world, where no one goes hungry and no food goes waste.
