A: Salvation Studios works primarily with school guidance counselors to identify students that will benefit from the program. Other youth organizations could ask for Salvation Studios to partner with them, and we will discuss it on a case by case basis.
Q: Where do the mentoring sessions happen?
A: The mentoring sessions could happen at the school or at Salvation Studios offices. Salvation Studios will coordinate with the guidance counselors on setting a schedule, including frequency, location, and duration of the program.
Q: How does Salvation Studio protect the youth from potential threats?
A: All employees and volunteers will be screened to ensure they have the skills and desire to train, teach, and mentor at risk youth. All employees and volunteers will be required to submit to a thorough background check and random drug tests. It is important to safeguard the youth and create a positive environment.
Q: Are the youth being used to create the video games?
A: No. The employees and volunteers for Salvation Studios will create the video games. The youth will be taught skills and if they create something that they want to include in the game, Salvation Studios will consider it. For example: The youth may go through a training program on creating skin tones. If they ask, we could include their skin tones as a choice in one of the games. It could be a confidence booster to see something they created used in a commercial video game.
Q: Who creates the video games?
A: Full time employees and volunteers for Salvation Studios will develop and distribute the video games.
Q: How will Salvation Studios continue operations after initial funding?
A: Salvation Studios will ask for donations from the people playing the games. Additionally, we will work with corporate sponsors to sponsor levels, or pay for in-game advertising. The advertisers will be screened to ensure they do not violate the values and message that Salvation Studios is presenting.
Q: How do I get a receipt for my tax deductible donations?
A: You should be able to print out your receipt for online donations. If you mail us a donation and include your e-mail address we will e-mail you a receipt. If you do not send an e-mail address we will mail you a receipt for donations over $50.
