Arneet has a longstanding interest in understanding how different layers of regulation work together to control gene expression. She received her BSc in Biochemistry from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Arneet then completed her PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Ben Blencowe in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto, where she studied the processing of messenger RNAs by alternative splicing and nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. As a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Jeannie Lee at Harvard Medical School, Arneet pursued her interest in non-coding RNA and chromatin regulation, and became fascinated with the worm as a model organism. She characterized new worm chromatin binding proteins with roles in somatic development and germline maintenance and looks forward to continuing this work in the Department of Cell and Systems Biology at U of T.
