Saltash Community Space

A vibrant green realm in the retail heart of the town

Project Overview

Having secured Town Vitality Funding from Cornwall Council, the Saltash Town Team has lead a study to look at options to help create a greener retail heart of the town centre. This would enable Saltash to host events, offer better facilities for outdoor relaxation and bring the community together. It would also help to make the town centre a more successful retail and leisure destination.

In June/July 2023, we engaged with the local community to hear views on making Saltash a better place to live, work, visit and enjoy and in September the recommendations were published. (see below)

Background

The design team initially carried out an assessment of possible sites taking into consideration factors including location, size, land ownership, accessibility and relationship to the town’s retail centre.

Following engagement with key local groups in April, the Town Team agreed the priority sites to take forward to the next stage.

The Saltash Town Team consulted the public on proposals for the following from 15 June- 14 July 2023 (extended from 30 June ):

Belle Vue East Car Park was also being considered for some minor landscape improvements.

The final report

Following public consultation, the project team provided their recommendations in September 2023 and these reports can be viewed/downloaded below:

Saltash Town Team/Council will seek further funding to enable the project to progress with the ambition being to achieve positive environmental, social and economic benefits for the town.
