Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be music other than Salsa?
This is a social for Salseros that will be dancing to S-A-L-S-A :)
This question is like asking to "play basketball at baseball event?" :)
There are many other gatherings that host Latin dance music, however, we are happy to dance all styles of SALSA including, mambo, cha-cha-cha, pachanga, and more. We will have some sprinkles of bachata :)
Can I make a song request at the event?
Our professional JW DJs come prepared with a combination playlist that includes the best Salsa from around the world and classics from all eras. We will however consider requests before the event and can email salserosunidosjw@gmail.com
Must I know how to dance professionally?
Although we encourage all to take lessons one does not need to know how to dance professionally. It is not a requirement to take classes. We love friends will dance all night "street salsa" , On 1 , On 2, Salsa Caleña, ALL styles of SALSA! We welcome beginners!
What is the dress code for this event?
FRIDAY
As we board the boat and enjoy the view with music from our JW DJs, please keep safety in mind.
👟 Dance shoes may not be ideal on a moving boat—sneakers are a better option.
🌊 Once we return to land, the dance area will be mostly cement, grass, and partially wooden floors.
👠 We recommend not using professional dance shoes, but the choice is yours.
🧥 Also, bring a light sweater in case it gets breezy by the Hudson River.
SATURDAY

👕 We’ll be selling event t-shirts to help cover event costs—support if you can!
💡 Black lights will be on and off throughout the night (for safety and photo time).
📸 There will be plenty of moments to take pics, so be ready!
SUNDAY
💃 Final day includes a workshop—dress to impress!
👗 Formal or semi-formal is welcome, but please avoid jeans or very casual looks.
📷 Be photo-ready and come looking your best—we’ll be taking lots of pics! 👗 Friendly Reminder on Attire 👔
As we get ready for this beautiful weekend together, let’s all use good judgment and modesty in our clothing choices—keeping things respectful, tasteful, and comfortable.
📖 “With modesty and soundness of mind…” —1 Timothy 2:9
We appreciate everyone’s efforts to help create an uplifting and encouraging environment for all. 💙
Do we have to wear white for the glow party?
No, its optional, but recommended, as some will purchase T-shirts for black lights. It's more fun when you wear white or neon or high-visability-glow compatible attire.
Do we have to wear a formal dress or a tux on Sunday?
No, its optional.
Which airport should we land?
Newark airport (EWR) is the closest and most economical option to the "BIG APPLE" in New York City, despite being located in New Jersey due to travel time and toll payments. However, you can also choose JFK or LGA, but it will be more expensive and take significantly longer due to traffic congestion , the time required to reach downtown, the boatride/ pier as well as the NJ socials Saturday & Sunday.
Why New Jersey?
It is affordable and parking is appreciated when its free. NY can be very expensive for some.
What areas are there for lodging?
Please visit our page "Welcome to NY & NJ" for local recommendations.
How is this event paid for?
Proceeds from T-shirt sales, donations from organizers and friends. Our sponsors and vendors also support our event for the boatride and events in collaboration with N4kids.org to make this event affordable for us to have fun.
Will there be food included?
The payment applies to venues and services for the dance event only. Since we are so close to New York City and friends have diets and also group planning, we encourage you to eat before your arrival.
Additionally our venues have a rule about not bringing food to their professional studio.
There will also be snacks and other food and drink for consumption at times by our vendors.
We will have drinking water supplied to us! :)
Can I volunteer?
Of course, we always need help. The more hands the better. Contact us at salserosunidosjw@gmail.com
We are so thankful for all the volunteers and JW businesses that give freely from their hearts ❤️❤️❤️
