This course uses economics – primarily microeconomics – as a way of describing and understanding a range of issues that are particularly relevant in developing countries (although many, if not all, are also relevant in the US and other higher-income countries) and the constraints and motivations that govern the choices of individuals and households in these contexts.
Applied Economics Research (View Syllabus)

Students will go through the steps of developing and revising a research question, cleaning and exploring data in R, and analyzing and presenting results. The instructor guides you throughout this process step-by-step, therefore providing you a hands on experience in conducting economics research. The objective of the course is to acquaint students with the economic theory that goes beyond competitive markets and its desirable properties. The mathematical structure is stressed but accompanied with real life applications to show that the theory has practical uses for individuals, firms, and policymakers. As a Teaching Assistant, I was responsible for teaching additional material and practice problems in sections as well as office hours. Creating rubrics and grading the assignments and exams.
