The bars are first cut using the lengths from the solid works model.
The bars are then milled with holes. The hole size is chosen chosen to be loose fit. The milling machine has a XY axis display. From that, the holes can be accurately placed from each other. The holes are determined from relative from one end. The drill bit itself has a diameter and needs to be accounted for when cutting.
The cut parts need to be sanded down so the inner and outer bars can freely slide from each other.
The printer used for this project is the Creality 10S Pro and the Makerbot Pro+.
The software used to setup the 3D printer is Ultimaker Cura v4.3.0. The settings for the printer can be found here. The software for Makerbot was MakerBot Pro
This stage of the process was very critical as the mechanical reliability of our robot depending on the machining process.
