As of 9/20/26: Many changes are coming to the docent program! PLEASE READ:

1. To improve communication between Zoo staff and docents, email communication will now take place via salisburyzoodocents@gmail.com. The salisburyzooed@gmail.com will no longer be used for this purpose.  Please add the new email to your contacts.

2. Beginning October 1, 2026, we will have a new process for logging docent hours. This new Docent Service Log (DSL) will replace the paper sign-in/out sheet. Please go to the Resource Documents section of this website for an instruction sheet, link, and QR code. NOTE: Accommodations will be made for people who are technologically challenged, but most docents should use the new process.

3. Beginning October 1, 2026, we will have a new process for letting staff know when you are on-site (for safety/emergency reasons). When you come on-site, simply write your name on the dry erase board between staff offices and make a check under the "In" column. When you leave, make a check under the "Out" column. This is to be done in addition to the DSL.

4. Also beginning October 1, 2026, we will have a new process for signing up for programs and events. This will be via SignUpGenius. Please go to the Resource Documents section of this website for an instruction sheet, link, QR code, and the upcoming events. NOTE: Accommodations will be made for people who are technologically challenged, but most docents should use the new process.

5. Docent meetings now be mandatory, whether in-person, via Zoom, or via the recording. Docents must "attend" to be considered active docents. Meetings will continue to be on Mondays, but will move to the second Monday of each month. Most will be at 9:30 a.m., but some will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. , which will include a pot luck dinner. Meetings will be where you will get all important information for the month including information on the programs/events for the month. Be sure to complete the DSL to get credit for your time, no matter how you "attend". The Zoom link and the recording will be posted on the Volunteer Opps/Events Calendar page of this website.
