The Salisbury fire house was built in 1972, and since that time, has never had running water or sewer facilities. The only restroom facility is a single outhouse. To make matters worse, volunteer firefighters are unable to wash their hands to remove the carcinogens that they are covered in when returning from fighting fires. This is the only firehouse in Addison County that does not have running water or sewage facilities, and we are rallying the community to come together in an effort to help raise $30,000 to remedy this situation.
We are currently looking to partner with sponsors at the $250, $500 and $1,000 level in order to help reach our goal of $30,000. We know that you are likely approached daily by worthy non-profit and charitable organizations and that it can be very hard to choose who to support--because we can’t do it all--but if you are interested and able to support this endeavor on behalf of the Salisbury Fire Department, it will benefit the entire region as the SFD responds to emergencies across the county.

The Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of founding member Lionel Cloutier. Lionel passed away at his Florida home with his wife by his side. He was 82 years old.
Lionel was a founding member of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department in 1972. Lionel was a generous man and had been involved in the department right up to his passing. He also generously donated the land where our station is currently.
In 2018 we were able to purchase a used fire engine from the City of Vergennes. This truck will replace the current engine that is past its useful life. This wouldn't have been possible without the generous help of the Salisbury Select bored and the City of Vergennes Fire Department.
Salisbury Fire Department will be at the Salisbury Community School on Oct. 16th for Fire Prevention Day. Students will learn about fire prevention and get to check out the tools our firefighters use when battling fires.
