OCL (Opposite Color Line) is a substitute for the cross in the CFOP method. However, unlike the cross, which has only one way per color, there are eight ways to combine one color. The image below shows all the combinations of OCL based on a white line.
1. D L F' L2 F' U2 B' L2 F' D2 F2 U2 B2 F' D L B' D2 B' U' B2 >>>>>> z2 B U2 L F D2
2. R F2 R2 U2 R' U2 B2 L U2 L2 B2 U2 F' D' U2 B R2 U2 L' R2 >>>>>> x2 L' U L B2 R2
3. L' U' R2 B' R2 F2 U' L2 D2 U F2 D' B2 R2 B L' U L' U2 R' D' >>>>>> x2 y F L2 U' R2
4. R2 B D2 F U2 L2 U2 B' D2 F L2 B' L U' F' U2 R B U' F' R2 >>>>>> x2 E' L F' B R'
5. F L' D' L2 F' D L' U L F2 D2 L2 F2 B2 D2 F R2 F' >>>>>> z2 R' U' D L F2 D2
If you are just starting to use the Salib Method, you may often make the mistake of misaligning the OCL to the center. This is because you align the yellow edge, which is part of the OCL, by mistake (in the case of White Line OCL). To reduce such mistakes, get into the habit of predicting ADF (Adjust D Face) at the time of inspection.
OCL+ is equivalent to X-cross in the CFOP method. OCL has more combinations than cross, so it is inevitably easier to solve than cross. In addition, the average number of steps is also fewer. As a result, X-cross, which is an advanced technique in CFOP, can be solved relatively easily.
