The beach of Mil Palmeras stretches for approximately 2 km and is ideal for both swimming and long walks. Several other beaches – both small and large – can be found further along the coast towards La Manga.
If you would like to visit Lo Pagán or enjoy the even warmer waters of the Mar Menor, it is just a pleasant bike ride or a short drive away. The area is lively and popular, including the well-known mud baths where people cover themselves with mineral-rich mud from the seabed, said to be beneficial for the skin and joints.
The surrounding area also features wetlands and salt lagoons with rich wildlife, including flamingos and chameleons.
Within walking distance, you will find a wide selection of restaurants in both Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras. The area offers two supermarkets and two pharmacies, with even more options just a 5-minute drive away.
For golf enthusiasts, there are several excellent golf courses nearby.
Rio Seco is located on the outskirts of Pinar de Campoverde, about a 15-minute drive inland. This natural area follows the river gorge, which can be explored along scenic walking paths stretching almost all the way down towards Rio Mar.
Even for those with a moderate level of fitness, it is perfect for a relaxing walk through beautiful surroundings with sandstone formations, varied vegetation and local wildlife.

This is a cycling route we always enjoy when we are in Spain – usually at least once a week. The route has very little traffic, and large parts follow dedicated cycle paths, beaches and trails with no cars.
The scenery is beautiful and varied, making it a great way to explore the area.

This natural reserve stretches for several kilometres along the Mediterranean coast just south of La Manga. It offers beautiful landscapes, well-maintained walking paths, and rich plant and wildlife.
During the summer season, the area is also popular with visitors.

With a history going back to Roman times, and the Carthaginians before them, Cartagena has over the past 20 years been transformed into a true gem – and it has become our favourite city in the area, only a 30 minutes drive away.
Park conveniently in the underground parking by the harbour and stroll along the pedestrian streets into the city centre. Visit the impressive Roman amphitheatre and explore the historic city walls.
During the summer, you can also enjoy jazz concerts at a beautiful open-air venue overlooking the sea.
If you feel like taking a slightly longer trip, Granada is less than four hours away by car. The city is beautifully located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains and is home to the stunning Moorish palace of Alhambra.
If you plan to visit Alhambra, it is recommended to book tickets well in advance, as waiting times can be several weeks during the summer season.
