Licensed Seminarian Tony Schmid

Tony was raised in Dorset Minnesota just outside of Park Rapids Minnesota until adulthood. Upon completing high school, Tony moved to the Grand Rapids area and has remained ever since. Graduated from Itasca Community College, Tony obtained an AA Degree in Elementary Education. After doing a tour of student teaching, Tony felt that teaching was not for him. After a summer back home, he returned to the area of Grand Rapids and enrolled in Hibbing Community College in the Law Enforcement program. After a few years, Tony obtained a Diploma with an emphasis in Law Enforcement, but after sustaining a permanent back injury, he decided not to pursue an LE career. That led him to working numerous jobs, until 2024 when Salem Lutheran Brethren Church issued him a call to serve the congregation. Upon enrolling in Lutheran Brethren Seminary in Fergus Falls Minnesota, Tony was accepted into the DCM program, Diploma of Christian Ministry as a long distance student so he can serve Salem as he attends seminary. In May of 2025, Tony was installed as a licensed seminarian serving in the pastoral office of Salem Lutheran Brethren Church. When not at the church or in seminary you can find Tony behind the wheel of a school bus with Palmer Bus Service of the Range Inc for the Greenway School District as well as singing Tenor 2 in the Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus. Tony has been a bus driver on and off since 2016 for numerous districts. Tony currently resides in Cohasset with his wife Angie and daughter Emily.
