Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Department: Operations – Technical & Maintenance
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Operations Management
Job Location: Cairo, Egypt (The 5th Settlement)
Lead and manage Salahly’s technical maintenance function and field technician teams across different maintenance specialties.
Take full ownership of the technical performance, productivity, discipline, development, and quality of technicians.
Supervise technical teams working across services such as HVAC & Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Electrical Works, Home Appliances, Carpentry, and other home maintenance activities.
Provide technical guidance and engineering support for complicated maintenance cases, recurring faults, and escalated customer complaints.
Review technical diagnoses submitted by technicians and ensure that the proposed repair method, required spare parts, materials, and pricing are technically reasonable.
Establish and continuously improve technical SOPs, maintenance standards, troubleshooting procedures, checklists, and quality-control processes.
Monitor technicians' field performance and ensure compliance with Salahly’s standards.
Conduct regular field inspections, technical audits, and random quality checks on completed maintenance jobs.
Investigate repeat visits, technical complaints, failed repairs, material misuse, and workmanship issues, identify their root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Evaluate technicians technically and classify their competency levels based on actual skills, knowledge, productivity, and quality of work.
Build clear technical competency standards and career levels for Trainee, Junior Technician, Technician, Senior Technician, Supervisor, and Team Leader positions.
Identify technicians’ training gaps and work with People & Culture and Salahly Academy to develop technical training and upskilling programs.
Conduct or supervise technical interviews and trade tests for new technicians before hiring or deployment.
Participate in hiring technical supervisors, team leaders, technicians, and other technical positions.
Coach and develop Technician Supervisors, Team Leaders, Senior Technicians, and field technicians to build a strong technical leadership pipeline.
Develop preventive maintenance standards and technical inspection procedures where applicable.
Monitor the consumption of spare parts, materials, equipment, and tools and investigate abnormal usage or technical waste.
Coordinate with Procurement and Inventory teams to define technical specifications and quality requirements for tools, spare parts, equipment, and maintenance materials.
Evaluate new tools, equipment, spare parts, suppliers, and technical solutions before operational adoption.
Ensure all technical activities comply with Health & Safety requirements, proper PPE usage, and safe maintenance practices.
Participate in launching new service categories and geographical areas by defining technical requirements, technician capabilities, tools, materials, and operating standards.
Track and improve technical KPIs such as: (Rework Rate,Quality Audit Score,Material Usage & Waste,Technician Utilization,Technical SLA Compliance..etc)
Prepare regular technical performance reports, identify recurring operational/technical issues, and present improvement recommendations to Operations Management and the COO.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
4–7 years of relevant experience in maintenance, facilities management, field services, after-sales service, MEP, HVAC, home appliances, or a similar technical environment.
Previous experience managing or supervising technicians and field maintenance teams is essential.
Strong practical understanding of maintenance operations and the ability to communicate effectively with technicians using technical terminology and real field experience.
Strong technical troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
Good understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, appliances, and general maintenance activities, with strong expertise in at least one major technical discipline.
Ability to assess whether technical diagnoses, repair recommendations, spare parts requirements, and maintenance procedures are appropriate.
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to regularly visit sites, inspect field work, and coach technicians directly.
Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies.
Experience building technical SOPs, inspection checklists, maintenance standards, and quality-control procedures.
Strong people-management skills with the ability to manage technicians of different experience levels and technical backgrounds.
Strong analytical skills and ability to use Excel / Google Sheets and operational dashboards to monitor technical performance.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Strong Arabic communication skills and good working English.
Flexible regarding field visits and operational requirements when needed.
Experience within home maintenance, facilities management, HVAC, MEP, after-sales service, service centers, or technical field-service companies is highly preferred.
Previous experience at companies such as Fresh, Carrier, ElAraby, Toshiba, Unionaire, LG, Samsung, or similar maintenance/service organizations is considered a strong advantage.
