Effective date: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Salah Recorder handles information when you use the Salah Recorder application on Garmin Connect IQ devices or Wear OS devices, including Samsung Galaxy Watch, and when recordings are transferred to or processed by the associated Windows application.
When you start a recording, Salah Recorder records motion data generated by your watch, including:
Accelerometer data
Gyroscope data
Sample timestamps
Recording/session timing information
Technical information associated with the recording, such as device type and application version where applicable
This data is collected only while the recording functionality is being used.
Salah Recorder may communicate with our activation service and process information necessary to activate and authorize the application, including:
Activation code
Installation or device-specific application identifier
Activation status
Application version
Validation, lease, grace-period, and expiration information
Technical information necessary to detect invalid or revoked activations
This information is used only to operate and protect the activation system.
If the Windows application is used to annotate recordings, it may store labels and other recording metadata entered by the user.
Video files imported into the Windows application for annotation remain local to the user's computer and are not uploaded to our servers.
Information processed by Salah Recorder is used to:
Record smartwatch motion during prayer or other requested recording sessions
Create and manage sensor recording files
Transfer recordings between supported devices
Allow recordings to be reviewed and annotated
Validate application activation and authorization
Receive recordings that users intentionally submit for dataset collection
Develop, test, validate, and improve Salah movement-recognition and Sujood-counting algorithms
Diagnose technical or security problems
We do not use collected data for advertising or behavioral profiling.
On Garmin devices, sensor recordings are stored locally as recording files on the device.
Salah Recorder does not automatically upload these recording files to our servers. The user transfers the files from the Garmin device when they choose to do so.
On supported Wear OS devices, including Galaxy Watch, recordings are stored locally on the watch.
The application can transfer recording files over Wi-Fi or another supported local-network connection to the Salah Recorder Windows application running on a computer.
Local-network access is used to establish this watch-to-computer connection and transfer the requested files.
Recordings received by the Windows application are stored locally on the user's computer.
If a user explicitly submits an annotated recording through the Windows application, the submitted recording data and annotations may be transferred to our servers for dataset collection and development purposes.
Video files used during annotation are not included in these submissions.
Internet communication may also occur separately for application activation and authorization.
We do not sell or rent user data.
Information may be processed by infrastructure providers used to operate our backend services, such as cloud hosting and storage providers, solely as necessary to provide those services.
We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
Data submitted through Salah Recorder is submitted to us and not to Garmin. Garmin has no responsibility or liability for data submitted to or processed by Salah Recorder.
Garmin, Google, Samsung, Microsoft, and other platform providers may separately process information relating to their own devices, stores, operating systems, or services according to their own privacy policies.
Recordings stored only on a watch or computer remain under the user's control and can be deleted by the user.
Server-side activation information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and administer the activation system.
Recordings intentionally submitted for dataset development may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to develop, test, and validate the Salah recognition system.
You may request deletion of personal data associated with you by contacting us. Following a valid deletion request, data associated with you will be deleted from our systems unless retention is required by law or the data has already been irreversibly anonymized so that it can no longer be associated with you.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by Salah Recorder against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss.
No storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security.
You control when sensor recording begins and ends.
You also control whether recording files are transferred from your watch to your computer and whether recordings are submitted from the Windows application to our servers.
Permissions requested by the application are used only for the functions described in this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy if Salah Recorder's functionality or data-handling practices change.
The effective date at the top of this policy will be updated when material changes are made.
