Prof. Morihiro MAEDA
I am pleased to hold a student exchange event between National Taiwan University (NTU), University of Ruhuna (UR), Sri Lanka, and Okayama University (OU), which is supported by the Sakura Science Exchange program, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). Eight students from NTU, four from UR, and seven from OU will participate in the event. This program is trilateral between the three universities. We had an exchange event at NTU and will have another at UR by sending OU students, which WESCO Co. LTD will financially support.
The Environmental Management course at OU and the Department of Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering at NTU, the Department of Soil Science at UR have similar backgrounds in rural engineering and environmental sciences. These departments have strengthened biological and ecological research areas, emphasizing practical field science. By visiting research fields in different counties during the events, students will learn about environmental problems and related research activities. In addition, these opportunities are suitable for matching a student with their future host professor. I hope many highly motivated students from NTU and UR come to the Master and Ph.D. programs at OU in the near future.
