Sakhi (“App”, “we”, “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Sakhi app processes, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
1) What the app does
Sakhi is a period/cycle tracking app. You can enter period dates, daily logs (symptoms, moods, sexual activity, contraception), notes, medicines, weight, temperature, reminders, and related settings.
2) Information we process :
A) Information you provide (may include sensitive/health-related data)
Depending on how you use the app, the following information may be stored:
- Period/cycle data (period days, cycle length, period length, prediction settings)
- Daily logs: symptoms, moods, sexual activity, contraception entries
- Notes (text you type)
- Medicine history / medicine schedules (text you type)
- Body measurements: weight, temperature
- App settings: language, theme, reminder times, widget enable/disable, etc.
- Recovery email (only if you enter one, to help if you forget your PIN)
B) Device permissions-related data
The app may request/use the following permissions depending on your choices and OS version:
- Notifications: to show reminders
- Exact alarms / boot completed (Android): to deliver reminders at the selected time and keep schedules after device restart
- Biometric / fingerprint / face: for secure access (unlock)
C) Important note about biometrics
For biometric unlock, the app uses your device’s operating system authentication prompt. We do NOT receive or store your fingerprint/face data. The OS only returns an authentication success/failure result.
3) How we use information
We use your information to:
- Provide tracking, predictions, statistics, and insights
- Schedule and display reminders/notifications
- Support secure access (PIN/biometric) when enabled
- Show summaries in a home-screen widget when enabled
- Support backup/restore features (when you choose to use them)
4) Where your information is stored (on-device)
Sakhi is designed to work primarily offline.
- Your data is stored locally on your device in a local database (SQLite).
- For backups, the app may create a local file named "sakhi_backup.json" in the app’s documents/storage area on your device.
- If the home-screen widget feature is enabled, some summary data is saved to widget-accessible local storage (e.g., SharedPreferences/app group storage) to render the widget.
5) Do we share your data?
By default, we do not sell or share your personal/health data with third parties.
Backup/Export note:
If you export/share a backup file using another app or cloud service, that sharing is initiated by you. The privacy practices of the service you choose will apply.
6) Internet and third-party tracking
Internet is not required for the core features of the app. We do not intend to run third‑party ads/analytics tracking SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics/AdMob) within the app.
7) Data retention
Your data remains on your device until:
- You delete entries in the app, and/or
- You uninstall the app, and/or
- You delete the local backup file yourself.
8) Security
We use reasonable measures to help protect your data:
- If you enable a PIN, the app stores a hashed version of the PIN (not the PIN in plain text).
- Biometric unlock relies on OS-level security.
No system can be guaranteed 100% secure. Keeping your device lock and any backup files secure is important.
9) Your choices
You can:
- View/edit/delete your entries in the app
- Turn notification permission on/off in your device settings
- Enable/disable biometric unlock in the app settings
- Create/delete backup files
- Uninstall the app (which typically removes local app data, depending on OS behavior)
10) Children’s privacy
Sakhi is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child’s personal data has been entered, you can delete the entries or uninstall the app.
11) Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” will change when we do. If changes are significant, we will try to provide notice within the app.
