Sajjad Khan is a Machine Learning researcher affiliated with the Institute for Information Management and Control and the Research Group for Information Systems and Applied AI at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), Vienna, Austria. He is also an affiliated researcher with the Research Institute for Cryptoeconomics at the same university. Prior to his current role, he was affiliated with the Institute for Distributed Ledgers and Token Economy, where he conducted research at the intersection of blockchain and distributed systems.
He completed his PhD at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU Vienna) in 2025, where his research focused on federated learning, particularly on designing privacy-preserving, secure, and trustworthy machine learning systems. He completed his MS in Computer Science from COMSATS University Islamabad in 2019 and his BS in Computer Science from the University of Peshawar in 2012.
His research interests include, but are not limited to, machine learning, federated and decentralized learning, blockchain interoperability, and distributed computing, with a special focus on security, privacy, and trust.
