Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Vision in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department at Khalifa University (KU) of Science and Technology, UAE. Prior to that, I was a research scientist at KU Center for Autonomous Robotics System (KUCARS), Abu Dhabi, UAE from 2019 to 2021. Before joining KU, I was a post-doc research fellow at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom, and working with a world computational pathology leader at TIA LAB from 2017 to 2019. I completed combined Masters and Ph.D. studies in computer science from Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea, in August 2017. During the fall of 2012 to the fall of 2017, I was supported by KNU Honors Scholarship Brain Korea and also working with Thierry Bouwmans as a joint training Ph. D. student at Universite De La Rochelle, France. I received a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in computer science from the University of Hertfordshire of the United Kingdom in 2010.

I perform cutting-edge research in computer vision, image processing, machine learning, and deep learning research problems. More specifically, I work on histology image classification, nucleus detection, and nucleus classification in computational pathology, background-foreground modeling, moving object segmentation, single object Tracking, and multi-object tracking in video sequences. My research theme involves deep learning, siamese networks, graph convolutional neual networks, robust principal component analysis, low-rank matrix completion, subspace learning, and unsupervised machine learning problems.
