HBL Task summary:
Objective: This HBL activity use the PheT photoelectric effect simulation to investigate the relationship between different variables (intensity of light, frequency/wavelength of light, stopping potential) and build a model to explain photoelectric effect that gives evidence for particle model of light.
Materials:
HBL worksheet (softcopy with clearer QR code is found below)
Laptop with Microsoft Excel (can download Microsoft 365, instructions on HBL worksheet, can scan QR code on google site if worksheet is unclear)
Instructions:
Collect HBL worksheet from your tutor by end T2W5
Ensure you have excel on your labtop by end T2W5
"Part A, B and C” in HBL worksheet: Play with the simulation and answer the questions on the hardcopy worksheet
“Additional questions” in the HBL worksheet:
- Q1: Answer on the hardcopy worksheet
- Q2: Requires the use of Excel to plot a graph and obtain an equation to calculate h and . Sketch the graph you obtained in the hardcopy worksheet and show the calculations using the equation to obtain h and in the “Workings” box or empty page behind the hardcopy worksheet.
- Q3: Scan QR code to answer a short online quiz by 2359 23 Apr 2024 (Tue)
5. Submission: Completed hardcopy worksheet to your physics tutors by end T2W6.
