Grocery SimReady USD asset library — the largest grocery-specific 3D simulation-asset library, and the first built entirely from omnidirectional real-world capture with lab-measured physics, using DreamVu’s proprietary ALIA 360° camera. By narrowing the domain gap that has limited sim-to-real transfer, the library marks a foundational step toward DreamVu’s real-to-sim-to-real pipeline. It is designed for training humanoid robots and embodied AI agents in retail environments.
The library includes more than 2,200 distinct grocery products and extensive storefront layout assets representing complete grocery retail environments — produce sections, packaged-goods aisles, refrigeration units, checkout zones, and back-of-store areas. Every asset is delivered in OpenUSD format, validated for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Omniverse pipelines, and ships with full physical properties — including measured mass, friction coefficients, collision meshes, and semantic labels — ready for robot manipulation training, sim-to-real transfer, and synthetic data generation workflows. Every physical property in the library is derived from the real items it represents.
MyLyt, a clip-on light tracker, was developed to estimate real-time light exposure. Validated against a lux meter, it showed strong correlation and reliability across controlled setups, outdoors, and indoors. In a real-world study with adults and children, MyLyt accurately differentiated between outdoor and indoor locations. These findings demonstrate MyLyt's reliability for tracking light exposure, making it a promising tool for research and clinical applications. Myopia is predicted to be an ‘epidemic’ among children and this device will help gain control over that ‘epidemic’ by measuring key factors i.e., light intensities to the kids are exposed to and drive them towards the alternatives namely outdoor activities.(LVPEI)
The Opto Kinetic Drum for Zebrafish is a specialized apparatus used to study vision and motion perception in these model organisms. It consists of a rotating cylinder with visual stimuli, enabling researchers to observe how zebrafish respond to controlled visual motion cues. This tool helps explore how zebrafish perceive and react to visual stimuli, providing insights into their neurological mechanisms for motion detection and behavior. Overall, it serves as a crucial tool in neurobiology and behavioral research, aiding our understanding of vision and locomotion in zebrafish and other species. (LVPEI)
P-ARC is a portable device that can be mounted onto a trial frame to enable peripheral refraction by using a retinoscope. Peripheral refraction at +/- 25 degrees can be carried out using the present device and a straight laser spot can be enabled based on the need for fixation of the patient's eyes. An initial test run is successful and the results are comparable with a refractor. (LVPEI)
The Bulls Eye Drop Applicator, a compact mirror-based attachment for eye drop bottles, was developed to facilitate precise self-administration of eye drops. A study involving volunteers and patients, significantly reduced the number of attempts required for drop application (P < 0.0001), effectively minimizing the wastage of eye drops by enhancing accuracy. Results showcased a substantial decrease in wastage from 42.2% to 14.6% in Group 1 and from 35.7% to 14.6% in Group 2 when using the applicator, underscoring its effectiveness in reducing medicine wastage while ensuring accurate drop instillation. Devices that were developed in collaboration with the Ophthalmic Biophysics Center (OBC), Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and L V Prasad Eye Institute. OBC works closely with LVPEI in developing novel ophthalmic devices.
An innovative tele-ophthalmic robotized stereoscopic Slit Lamp eye examination system has been created, enabling remote control from anywhere worldwide via a simple internet connection. Three prototypes are now operational in distant rural areas, bridging patients with eye conditions to ophthalmologists and care providers in real-time. This breakthrough not only extends eye care accessibility but also caters to underprivileged patients in remote, rural regions.
Developed by the OBC team, this technology's knowledge is being disseminated for replication. Ten additional devices have been replicated and installed in LVPEI's secondary centers and vision centers. The entire initiative was made possible through funding from Grand Challenges Canada. This endeavor signifies a remarkable stride toward providing vital eye care services to marginalized communities and stands as a testament to collaborative efforts in advancing healthcare accessibility.
Photodynamic antimicrobial therapy (PDAT) stands as an innovative alternative for addressing microbial keratitis, leveraging a unique approach involving a photosensitizer activated by specific wavelengths of light. This therapy capitalizes on the interaction between the photosensitizer and light to create reactive oxygen species, effectively targeting and neutralizing microbial agents.
The in-vitro PDAT system serves as a pivotal tool in the assessment of this therapy's efficacy against specific microbes. Conducting in-vitro experiments provides a controlled environment to analyze the impact of PDAT on various microbial strains. These experiments involve subjecting the microbes to the PDAT treatment under precise conditions, allowing researchers to evaluate the therapy's effectiveness in eradicating or inhibiting the growth of the targeted microorganisms.
By utilizing this in-vitro system, researchers can delve into the mechanisms underlying PDAT's antimicrobial action. They investigate factors such as the photosensitizer's interaction with microbes, the optimal light wavelength for activation, and the treatment duration needed for maximum effectiveness. This methodical approach not only validates PDAT's potential as a treatment option for microbial keratitis but also sheds light on its broader application in combating diverse microbial infections.
Designing and development of new components and spares involves the creation and enhancement of new components and spare parts aimed at substituting imports and reducing costs. This initiative focuses on redesigning elements to streamline the manufacturing process, thereby achieving a more efficient and economically viable product. By strategically altering designs, the aim is to reduce production complexities and expenses associated with importing components, ultimately resulting in a more cost-effective final product. (LVPEI)
