I started sailing at the age of four. To date I remember the first day my Dad took me sailing....it was love at first experience for me and I was hooked forever. At age 12, I got my sailing license even before I got my driving license and diving license.

My dad, an avid sailor named me Dhruva, which in the ancient language of sanskrit means "The pole star" which is aptly the guiding star for sailors. I consider myself lucky to be exposed to sailing and find it a huge part of my life. I would love to expose more people to sailing so they can experience what I have. This is the reason I started this effort through "SailAway" - It can be quite expensive to rent a boat and hire a sailing instrucor to learn this sport. I want to remove that barrier to enable more people to get to love sailing. I want to teach people for free to sail and enable them to get their own licence.
