I am currently working on exploiting the flexibility potential of Dynamic Virtual Power Plants (DVPPs) for Fast Frequency Response (FFR) in AC grids via distributed control and optimization algorithms. The focus is on estimating the DVPP parameters to enable rapid response from inverter-based resources (IBR) and coordinating these resources via local interaction among neighboring DVPPs to balance any mismatch in required and actual IBR power output. I am specifically interested in the following interrelated research areas:
Energy management for a network of distributed energy sources and storage
Data-driven modeling and forecasting for renewables and load
Distributed control and optimization under communication constraints
Robust control of interconnected power electronic converters via hybrid disturbance estimation
Robust hybrid control algorithms for power electronic converters
