Oliver Wasenmüller

Oliver Wasenmüller is a Full Professor of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, Germany. His research focuses on applied Computer Vision in various application fields such as the automotive industry, robotics, life sciences, society, and industry. He received his PhD from RPTU Kaiserslautern and was a team leader at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) prior to his appointment. He regularly serves as a speaker, reviewer, and organizer at leading scientific conferences in his field and has co-organized the SAIAD workshop since its launch.

Markus Enzweiler

Markus Enzweiler is a Full professor of computer science at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences in Esslingen, Germany. He is interested in visual scene understanding and machine learning with an application towards mobile robotics. He is the author of several scientific papers published in highly regarded journals and conference proceedings, e.g. the widely used Cityscapes dataset and benchmark suite. Prior to his professorship, he has been working with Mercedes-Benz Research & Development in Stuttgart, Germany focusing on camera- and LiDAR-based scene understanding for self-driving cars.

Thomas Stauner

Thomas Stauner studied computer science at Technical University of Munich and University of Edinburgh. He received his PhD degree at Technical University of Munich in the area of cyber-physical systems. After joining BMW Group he was concerned with pushing software engineering approaches into automotive embedded software. He was responsible for software integration of electric drive software and for the embedded software development process and its tooling at BMW. Currently he is responsible for paving the way for safety-related machine learning applications at BMW, with focus on computer vision.

Claus Bahlmann

Claus Bahlmann is Head of Artificial Intelligence and Senior Principal for Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision with Siemens Mobility. In these roles, he and his team are incubating and executing strategic R&D programs at the intersection of AI and Rail Traffic to be transferred into the Siemens product portfolio. Before joining Siemens Mobility, Claus worked since 2004 as Research Scientist for Siemens Corporate Technology in Princeton, NJ, USA, developing Machine Learning and Computer Vision technology for Mobility, Healthcare, and Security applications. He graduated from University of Freiburg in 2003 with a PhD degree in Machine Learning.

Peter Schlicht

Peter Schlicht studied mathematics with a minor in computer science in Göttingen and received his doctorate in pure mathematics from the University of Leipzig. After a two-year research stay at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale (EPFL) in Lausanne (Switzerland), he joined Volkswagen Group Research in 2016 as an AI architect. In 2020, he joined CARIAD as the Head of Safe Artificial Intelligence. He is particularly interested in methods for monitoring, robustifying and verifying safety of deep neural networks, as well as raising data and energy efficiency in the development and inference of DNNs in the automotive industry.

Stefan Milz

Stefan Milz received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from the Technical University of Munich. He is Managing Director of Spleenlab.ai, a self-founded machine learning company focusing on safety-critical mobility applications (UAV, Automated Driving, Air-Taxis) deploying SLAM, sensor-fusion, and perception functions into the real world with regard to safety standards. He is also a research fellow at the TU-Ilmenau. Stefan Milz is the author and co-author of more than 60 patents and more than 60 publications.

Joachim Sicking

Joachim Sicking is a senior data scientist at Cariad SE (Volkswagen AG) in Berlin. He develops reliable AI methods for visual perception within the VW-Bosch Alliance for Automated Driving. In particular, he focuses on uncertainty estimation for model self-assessment and failure detection. Prior to this role, Joachim worked as a ML researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS). He has a background in physics (M.Sc. from the University of Duisburg-Essen) and received his PhD in computer science from the University of Bonn.

Larissa Triess

Larissa Triess is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and Tech Lead at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development in Sindelfingen. Her focus is on scene understanding for autonomous driving. In parallel, she teaches a lecture series on Image Processing and Computer Vision at the University of Stuttgart. Prior to these roles, Larissa worked on domain adaptation and generative models for LiDAR perception. She obtained her PhD in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2022.

Nikolas Ebert

Nikolas Ebert holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences and is currently a fourth-year PhD candidate in the field of computer vision. He is also a team leader at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, where he and his team work on applied computer vision projects in the fields of medicine, life sciences, and robotics. His research focuses on detection methods and their robustness.
