Curriculum Development Efforts:
Curriculum coordinator for CREPES Consortium (FIU, UTEP, AAMU) funded by DoE NNSA, responsible for coordination of course development and certificate program in nuclear security.
Contributed to the introduction of new BS in Computer Engineering Program, 2022
Core faculty of Computer Engineering Curriculum Development Committee
New Course Creation and Course Redesign:
Developed and permanently introduced two new hands-on security courses (introductory and advanced), “EE 4373 Introduction to Cybersecurity” and “EE 5368 Security in Cyber Physical Systems” that focus on security from computer engineering perspective and complement the existing security courses in computer science. These project-based courses align with NIST’s National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) framework and cover content developed with experts’ inputs from industry and army.
Compute Architecture Course (Undergraduate level): Redesigned some sections of the course to introduce metrics of performance, introduce caching concepts which include type, design, organization, policies and coherence. These modules primarily represent the current trends in microarchitecture and look into design issues from architect’s perspective.
Computer architecture (Graduate level): Redesigned some sections of the Computer Architecture course, to introduce design tradeoffs and advanced topics in parallel computing architecture while using multi-core, graphics-processor unit (GPU), and heterogeneous SOC multiprocessor architectures and their implementation issues (architect’s perspective). The primary objective of the course is to provide in-depth coverage of current and emerging trends in computer architecture focusing on performance and the hardware/software interface. Students were exposed to many exciting open problems in the field and worked on hands on projects in multi-core and GPU architecture systems to gain working knowledge about architectural aspects in high performance computing systems.
