When fall overtakes the sunny prime,

And winds turn cold from warm,

When leaves fall off, green and brown

The form fades, but the path lingers.

When snow drains the veins of life

And a fog hangs thick and dense,

When silence deafens for miles and miles,

The form fades, but the path lingers.

When dusk pulls out its tentacles dark,

And loyal shadows betray to leave,

When the time is ripe for flowers to droop,

The form fades, but the path lingers.

When the chirping birds fly off south,

And darkened clouds become a daily sight,

When the reliable eye bids farewell,

The form fades, but the path lingers.

As trees fight the winters back

on the wings of the birds returning north,

the heart brakes the mind to a screeching halt.

A moment is caught before it flees.

As leaves leave their torpor and shake off snow

and wish the larks a cute hello,

a sight is frozen to be guarded for eternity.

A moment is caught before it flees.

As the sun ends its stupor and flexes its rays,

and the frost weeps and cowers, from rooftops and towers,

colors are splashed on the canvas of time.

A moment is caught before it flees.

As the couple walks the streets, wet and cold,

and their words melt their hearts, cosy and warm,

the winter springs up a spring on their whim.

A moment is caught before it flees.
