Meet Our Founder and Lead Educator, Caprice Houston!

Caprice Houston founded SAGE TREE Academy, LLC in August 2019. As a licensed teacher with National Board Certification and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, she brings over 30 years of experience across K-12 and higher ed and realizes that the traditional school environment does not meet the diverse needs of every student. Having raised four children, she envisions a learning environment that allows for flexibility while providing engaging learning activities to meet students at their current skill level. As the lead educator of SAGE TREE Academy, Ms. Houston hopes to prepare students for the jobs of the future by developing critical thinking and life skills. This program is ideal for student athletes who are looking to be scholars advancing in global education (SAGE) and top athletes in their sport.

In this rapidly changing world dominated by technology, most of the research shows that many of the careers and jobs that exist today will be obsolete by the time students in high school and college graduate. What does this mean? Our educational system needs to be preparing students for careers that do not exist yet. To do that, we need to move away from the traditional brick and mortar schools and embrace a more Global education system that meets scholars (students seeking knowledge) where they are…. meets their needs, their wants, their situation. SAGE TREE Academy provides educational services that advance scholars to achieve their learning goals at a pace that is individualized and personal.

How does SAGE TREE Academy prepare learners for beyond the 21st Century?

TEACH students where they are.

We teach students wherever they are physically, cognitively, and emotionally. We bring learning to you either in person or virtually. We create an individualized learning plan for your student. The plan is stress free, but still allows students to meet promotion, graduation, and college requirements.

REACH students everywhere.

There are no zoning restrictions. Whether your child is in private or public school, online or homeschooled virtually anywhere, we can provide services, specifically for grades 6-12.

ENGAGE every student.

Students learn more when they are engaged and focused. With a specialized education plan, we can determine how best to keep your child engaged and learning at an optimal level.

ELEVATE students to success.

Credentials

All of our educators and tutors go through a screening process that must include teaching experience/ teacher licensure and/or education in their content area, recommendations from school administrators where they taught or took classes and personal interviews or observations. It is our passion to treat all students like scholars and teach, reach, engage, and elevate them with integrity and love beyond the 21st Century.

Disclaimer

SAGE TREE Academy is not currently an accredited middle school or high school. We do offer curriculum for homeschoolers grades 6-8, 8th grade gap year curriculum, tutoring grades 6-12 in specific subjects, and specific college prep services. See below for a detailed explanation of all our current services. Parents are responsible for knowing and following the state and district requirements for promotion and graduation and students are responsible for knowing and meeting specific college entrance requirements. All services are offered by licensed and/or experienced educators.
