Lift gas springs are the most common gas springs. They come in a variety of sizes and provide a compact, high force solution to a wide variety of lifting and counterbalancing applications.
Locking gas springs are able to be locked at any point in its extension. There are 2 types of lockable springs, namely:
Flexible - providing resistance to the spring being pushed and pulled
Rigid - provides no flex when spring is being pulled, slight flex when spring is being pushed
Both types have the same locking mechanism. Applications include operating, massage and veterinary tables and wheel chair recline and support systems. This type of locking gas spring is always used where no movement can be tolerated when the item is in its locked position.
