Visa

In principles, visitors to Vietnam should obtain a visa prior to their travel (no later than four weeks) unless they are bearing a nationality which has visa exemption agreements with Vietnam.

Remark that your passport must be valid for another six months before your departure.

Vietnam visa exemption

Vietnam visa exemption (also known as Vietnam visa waiver, or Vietnam visa free) means the case that a foreign national is allowed to enter Vietnam and stay in the country for a certain period of time without having to follow any Vietnam visa procedure as the Vietnam government has signed the bilateral/unilateral visa exemption agreement for his/her country.

Ordinary passport holders of the following 25 countries do not need a visa for Vietnam (officially given HERE):

  1. Chile (90 days)

  2. Panama (90 days)

  3. Cambodia (30 days)

  4. Indonesia (30 days)

  5. Kyrgyzstan (30 days)

  6. Laos (30 days)

  7. Malaysia (30 days)

  8. Singapore (30 days)

  9. Thailand (30 days)

  10. Philippines (21 days)

  11. Brunei (14 days)

  12. Myanmar (14 days)

  13. Belarus (15 days)

  14. Denmark (15 days)

  15. Finland (15 days)

  16. France (15 days)

  17. Germany (15 days)

  18. Italy (15 days)

  19. Japan (15 days)

  20. Norway (15 days)

  21. Russia (15 days)

  22. South Korea (15 days)

  23. Spain (15 days)

  24. Sweden (15 days)

  25. United Kingdom (15 days, not applicable to BNO)

E-visa

Vietnam e-visa or Vietnam electronic visa has been introduced by the Vietnam Immigration Department since February 2, 2017. This kind of Vietnam visa is applied and issued online. An e-visa for Vietnam is valid for 30 days with a single entry only.

Notice: After 2 years of suspension due to Covid-19, Vietnam e-visa has been resumed since March 15, 2022, and follows the same regulations as before Covid-19.
