Grand Connection Competition

MG2’s response to Bellevue’s Grand Connection RFP centers on enhancing public space along Bellevue’s Grand Connection. The Metro site directly links to the light rail station, creating a plaza with dining and retail at street level. The residential tower replaces private balconies with larger shared outdoor decks, encouraging community and improving efficiency. The Connector bridge over I-405 is designed as a wide, park-like space for pedestrians and cyclists, transforming infrastructure into a usable public place.

At the Lincoln site, the bridge splits to connect to the Eastrail and a rooftop park above a cultural center built beneath the light rail. Two residential towers are joined by an elevated public park, accessible by elevator, offering panoramic views and shared open space in the sky.
