The Safe AI Use Lab welcomes community partners, academic collaborators, students, and volunteers who are interested in helping patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and communities use AI-generated health information more safely and thoughtfully.
Our work focuses on patient safety, AI literacy, chronic disease self-management, care transitions, health communication, community health, and responsible AI use in healthcare.
Community Partnerships
We welcome partnerships with libraries, churches, clinics, senior centers, caregiver groups, public health programs, professional organizations, and other community partners.
Community partners may help with outreach, workshop planning, community education events, participant engagement, feedback on educational materials, and dissemination of safe AI use resources.
Academic and Research Collaboration
We welcome collaborators with interests or expertise in AI in healthcare, patient safety, digital health, health literacy, chronic disease care, care transitions, nursing informatics, community engagement, implementation science, mixed methods research, and educational intervention development.
Potential collaboration areas may include research design, grant development, data analysis, educational materials, community workshops, conference activities, publications, and future intervention studies.
Student and Volunteer Opportunities
Students and volunteers may assist with literature reviews, educational materials, workshop support, survey organization, data management, conference activities, website updates, video/resource development, and dissemination products.
Opportunities vary based on project needs, funding, supervision capacity, and availability. Some opportunities may be unpaid or limited in hours. Tasks, expectations, deadlines, and supervision will be discussed in advance.
Expectations
Students and volunteers are expected to communicate professionally, follow project instructions, protect participant privacy, complete assigned tasks as agreed, and use project time only for approved project-related work.
Paid hours, when available, must be preapproved, documented, and directly related to assigned project tasks. Students and volunteers are encouraged to ask questions early when clarification is needed and to notify the project lead in advance if a deadline or task cannot be completed.
All project activities must follow applicable research, IRB, university, and privacy guidelines.
Project Contributors
The project may be supported by students, volunteers, community partners, and collaborators who contribute to educational materials, workshop support, data organization, literature review, outreach, and dissemination activities.
Contributor names may be listed with permission.
