# Privacy Policy — Safe Shelf

Safe Shelf ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is developed by **itone**. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
Safe Shelf is an **offline, private vault** for storing your family's important documents. Protecting your privacy is the core purpose of the App. **Your documents and the personal details you store never leave your device, and we never sell your data.** The App does display ads (see Section 9), which rely on a limited device identifier as described below.

## 1. Summary
- Safe Shelf works **entirely offline** on your device.
- Your documents, photos, and personal details are stored **locally** and protected with **encryption**.
- Access is guarded by a **PIN** and, optionally, your device's **biometric** (fingerprint / face).
- We have **no servers**, **no user accounts**, and **no cloud sync** for your documents.
- The App shows ads through **Google AdMob**, which may use your device's advertising identifier. It does **not** access your stored documents or personal content.
- We **cannot see, access, or recover** the documents and details you store.

## 2. Information You Store in the App
All information you enter into Safe Shelf stays on your device. This may include:
- **Family member details** — names, relationships, and profile photos you add.
- **Documents** — files, scanned images, and photos you attach (e.g. passports, certificates, IDs, insurance papers).
- **Document metadata** — titles, categories, notes, and expiry dates you assign.
- **Reminders** — dates you set for document expiry notifications.
This data is **never sent off your device** by the App. It is stored in the App's private, encrypted local storage and is protected by your PIN and biometric lock.

## 3. Information We Do NOT Collect
Safe Shelf does **not** collect, log, or transmit:
- The contents of your documents, photos, family details, or notes — these never leave your device.
- Personal identifiers, names, or contact information that you enter into the App.
- Location data.
- Account credentials (there are no accounts).
We have **no backend servers**. The only data that leaves your device is what Google AdMob needs to serve ads (see Section 9) — never the contents of your vault.

## 4. Device Permissions
The App requests certain device permissions **only to provide its features**. These permissions are used locally and do not result in any data being sent to us:
- **Camera** — to let you photograph or scan a document or a family member's profile picture. Photos are stored only inside the App.
- **Photos / Files (storage)** — to let you choose existing images or files from your device to attach, and to import or export a backup file you explicitly create.
- **Biometric / Fingerprint** — to let you unlock the App with your fingerprint or face, as an alternative to the PIN. Biometric data never leaves your device and is handled entirely by the operating system; the App never sees it.
- **Notifications** — to show you local reminders (for example, when a document is about to expire).
- **Exact alarms / scheduling** — to deliver those reminders at the correct time.
You can review or revoke these permissions at any time in your device's system settings.

## 5. Security
- Your data is stored in the App's **encrypted** local storage.
- Access requires your **PIN**, with optional **biometric** unlock.
- After repeated incorrect PIN attempts, the App temporarily locks to protect against unauthorized access.
- Because everything is stored locally and encrypted, the security of your data also depends on the security of your device. We recommend keeping your device's screen lock enabled and your operating system up to date.

## 6. Backups
Safe Shelf lets you create a **backup file** of your data that you control. When you choose to export a backup:
- The backup is generated on your device.
- You decide where it goes (for example, sharing it to your own cloud storage, email, or another app via the system share sheet).
- Once you share or move a backup outside the App, that copy is no longer protected by Safe Shelf and becomes subject to the privacy practices of wherever you store it.
We never receive a copy of your backup.

## 7. Fonts
The App may load standard display fonts (e.g. Inter, Noto Sans Arabic) used for its interface. This involves only font files for visual styling and does not transmit any of your personal data.

## 8. Children's Privacy
Safe Shelf is intended for **adults (18 and over)** who manage their family's documents, and is not directed at children. The documents and personal details you store stay on your device under your control and are never transmitted to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Advertising is handled by Google AdMob as described in Section 9.

## 9. Advertising & Third‑Party Services
To keep the App free, Safe Shelf displays ads served by **Google AdMob**. AdMob is a Google advertising service.
- To serve ads, AdMob may collect and process your device's **advertising identifier (Advertising ID)** and limited technical information such as device type and general (coarse) region. This is used to deliver and measure ads.
- AdMob **never** has access to the documents, photos, family details, or any other content you store in the App. Your vault stays on your device.
- Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
- You can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings (**Settings → Privacy → Ads** on Android). On Android you may also reset or delete the advertising identifier entirely.
Other third parties involved:
- **Your device's operating system**, which handles biometric authentication and notifications.
- **Apps you explicitly choose** when sharing a backup (only if and when you do so).
Aside from AdMob, Safe Shelf does **not** integrate any other analytics or tracking services.

## 10. Data Deletion
Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in full control:
- Delete individual documents, photos, or family members within the App at any time.
- Uninstalling the App removes its locally stored data from your device.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised policy.
