Building a Strong Membership: A Conversation with Women in SAF
The Society of American Foresters was founded in 1900 “to further the cause of forestry in
America by fostering a spirit of comradeship among foresters." For many of its early years,
this comradeship was mostly limited to men. In 2017, 117 years later the SAF made a
formal commitment to, "diversity and inclusion in our leadership, membership, programs,
and activities." In 2021, the SAF still has room to improve on this goal. Join us for a
conversation with women who have led in forestry and SAF to discuss their careers and
experiences in forestry and their perspectives on the value of SAF to forestry practitioners
from all backgrounds today.
