The new TYEE High School is designed to transform an existing High School campus from a disparate and disconnected collection of buildings into a unified and cohesive place to serve students and community. The concept models submitted show how working design models were used to develop and communicate how a central courtyard is both integrated into and generative of a network of strong social emotional and learning spaces. How movement through and connection to the centralizing courtyard can support the day in the life of a high school student which can vary widely throughout the day and year. These studies provided the tool for the team to design a cohesive series spatial scales and characteristics that are unique to each educational focus, daylight/orientation, color, and place within the school while also being equitable and create a unified whole that will become TYEE High School.
