The FRANCK model is unique in that it was created by a group of Eastside-area high school students, with help from volunteer A/E/C professional mentors. Through the ACE Mentor Program, the students came together to learn every aspect of the building design process, responding to a mock RFP and creating a design deliverable. This group of students went above and beyond to produce a physical model to illustrate their design. The students embody the concept of CommUNITY – varied voices and ideas can join together in the spirit of learning and cooperation, creatively finding design solutions. The students are from all four grades from four high schools, represent multiple diverse backgrounds and professional interests, and were all committed to designing a waterfront aquatic center to serve the Juanita Bay community in Kirkland.
