Digital Sky

“Digital Sky” reflects the patterns and movements of nature, letting the interior of a space breathe through the calming play of light. This conceptual model, a full color digitally-controlled ceiling installation, brings light, color, and pattern into a space while also promoting organic interactivity. When this installation is set to “breathe mode,” it has the appearance of inhaling and exhaling, matching the rhythm of people’s breaths as they pass beneath it.

Developed as a lighting installation in a mixed-use building lobby, designers wanted to make the transition from exterior/public space to interior/private space more profound. A drastic contrast between outside and in cues passersby to be present, subtly reminding them to take a moment and breathe.
