If you have not already done so, in preparation for the event you will need to complete these tasks
Sign up to ChatGPT: https://chat.openai.com/.
Play around with asking various questions. For example, ask it your research question, ask it what AI is available to proof read your thesis, ask it to write you a poem about your research topic.
Please practice your presentation and stick to your time:
If you are at data analysis or writing up findings, present your data analysis (i.e. tell us about your data, what your data analysis methods were, what your findings were, any questions or issues you have), for ±15 minutes.
If you are starting out, introduce yourself and your research idea or questions if you have them, what methods you are interested in, for ± 5 minutes.
If you are staying on for the extra two days, please read and prepare the following:
1. Reading
For those who didn’t attend last year, read the piece on "Shtick", found under the resources tab
Two ‘Platter’ blogs:
"plan to write – a controlling purpose"
https://patthomson.net/2020/11/30/plan-to-write/
"the disappearing writer – a redrafting strategy"

2. Writing
Bring a draft of the abstract of your research project, no more than 350 words.
Bring a sketch of the breakdown of your project into its different parts, such as thesis or book chapters, journal article sub-headings. [Do not stress about these. They are all works-in-progress which you will refine during the summer school.]
